Must I Purchase a .com Domain Extension?
by editor on May.31, 2009, under News
I’ve heard both sides of this argument from various marketers over the years, but primarily the answer most will give to that question is yes, it does make a difference. That for some reason, Google gives more “love” to a .com or even a .org domain than to a .info (or even .net) domain.
The people that have told me this say that it is obvious) to see this is true because when you look at the search results you receive when you enter a search phrase into the search engines, the top sites are quite often going to be .com or .org.
Yes, this is generally true, but I have another side to that statement that you could consider when deciding which extension you are going to purchase.
There are thousands, hundreds of thousands more .com and .org websites on the world wide web than there are .info. This fact on it’s own could explain why the search results usually have .com and .org domain names in their top listings. This does not mean that it is not possible that the search engines prefer .com or .org, I am just bringing up a point. That is that .com and .org domain extensions should be on page one of the search results most of the time, there are 10’s, even 100’s of thousands more websites with a .com or .org domain extension.
I have way more .com domains. I like those because when people enter domain names into their address bar they usually to enter .com. So, by simply purchasing a .com you can ensure they arrive at your website. If the website you wanted in a .com has a .info available and you purchase it, then when the person goes to enter it into their address bar, it is likely that unless they were actually attentive, they will be entering in .com. And so instead of arriving at your website, they would land on someone else’s.
I do have some .info extensions however and as far as a search engine optimization stand point I have found them to rank in the search engines equally as well as a .com website. Therefore, for search engine optimization purposes it doesn’t really seem to matter which extension you choose. The search engine optimization side relies more on your keyword phrases and links than to the extension you buy.
So, when purchasing your domain it comes down to what you prefer. Does it matter to you whetherthey accidentally type in .com rather than .info (or even .net)? How you answer this question will help you chose which domain extension you buy.

Designing A Web Site For A Set Screen Resolution is Over
by editor on May.30, 2009, under News
Introduction
Every web site development designer must first of all determine what size screen resolution to design for before a single pixel is committed to file.
I was reading somewhere recently that apparently these days the only answer to that question should be ‘all of them’ and ‘none of them’. What this basically means is that new websites should be built to accommodate all different screen sizes these days, particularly with the increased popularity of hand help web browsers, smart phones, net books and the like. Of course there is also the other end of the spectrum in the new huge wide screen flat screen monitors. I recently treated myself to a 24 inch Asus which does 1920×1080 which is big enough to get two web browser windows on screen side by side, but if you make one of them full size, the majority or websites look, well, just plain silly!
What exactly is screen resolution then?
If you are not familiar with screen resolution, the simple answer is that it is the size of your display. However, this can be quite misleading because it is actually the number of pixels that make up the display area on the screen of your monitor. Still not clear? Well let’s look at some examples to help clarify exactly what screen resolution is.
Currently what would appear to be the most common screen resolution is 1024×768 (accounting for 62% of my website visitors). This is a screen that is 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high. What is a pixel? A Pixel, derived from the phrase Picture Element, is basically one of the thousands of tiny dots that make up your display screen. However, this does not necessarily determine the physical size of your monitor (14 inch, 15 inch, 19 inch etc) because most monitors are capable of displaying the screen in different screen resolutions. It is fairly true to say that if you want to run your monitor at a high screen resolution then you will need a large monitor, the larger the monitor the greater the resolution it can display at (assuming your graphics processor can support a high resolution).
All getting a bit technical? Put simply the higher the screen resolution the more things you can fit on your screen before they have to go onto the next line, or before you have to scroll down or scroll right.
What’s this got to do with Website Design?
When creating the layouts for a new website design, traditionally the experienced graphic designer would be working to a specific resolution in order to make sure that the design fits in your browser window without having to scroll right. (Thankfully most website owners don’t demand you make their pages so that you don’t have to scroll down anymore!)
A common screen resolution is 1024×768 but if pages built to this size are viewed on a larger screen size such as 1600×1200 there will be large sections of the screen that are blank, so a competent ecommerce web design agency will offer a solution to this.
When designing at a fixed resolution you can deal with larger display settings by either aligning the site to the left and having a huge great big gap to the right, or you can centre align the website in the available space and then the extra screen resolution will be on either side of the content area.
However, the sensible, modern day approach is to make the site flexible to accommodate all screen resolutions by creating ‘fluid’ content that will flow to fit the available page space irrespective of what size screen resolution it is viewed at.
Also, because of the increased popularity of the web the challenge for a website owner is how to engage your viewers and get them to stay on your website for as long as possible and show them as much content as possible. One way to help with this is to make full use of all of the available space. Two great big blank areas either side of a tiny web page is simply just a waste of space. Imagine if you picked up a newspaper or magazine and only half of the front page had got any content on it, the editor would get the sack for sure! So by creating fluid websites, web site owners can take advantage of larger publishing spaces available on bigger screen users, whilst optimising content for display on smaller screens too.
Another advantage with big screen displays is the ability to use the new area for re-publishing. Re-publishing is a way to put content from another area of your site onto a different page, thereby bringing it forward for the viewer. An example of this that we did on one site we created was to insert an alphabetical list of names of the products available on the website underneath the left hand menu on pages that were very long.
All pages tend to be different lengths, as determined by the content on the page, so we used a clever widget to create this list of product names and squirt it in the gap until it ran out of space. This was great for SEO too as it gave a direct link to specific product pages based on their product names without having to crawl through category pages first, also website users would often see something in the list they wanted and click straight through to the page and buy the item.
Ultimately this has evolved into what would now be thought of as a web 2.0 ‘tag cloud’ a list of tags that are usually user generated, to indicate and link directly to a specific content group or item. Using a tag cloud is a great way to fill fluid spaces on larger screens that you can fill with what are effectively links to other parts of the website.
How do you create fluid content?
Fluid content is quite simple to create, the majority will be words of course, which are naturally fluid so on a small resolution screen you might get 5-10 words to a row, on a larger screen you can get 20-30 words or more. However the challenge comes with images, and particularly website graphics. A photograph, whilst it can be made smaller and larger offline, it can’t be automatically resized by the web browser at the time of viewing (not taking into account the Zoom function in Internet Explorer).
The HTML code that makes up your web pages is again designed to allow fluidity by fitting content into the available page area, so some tips that can be employed to make content fluid include not using tables in the code (which are depreciated these days now anyway), not setting specific screen width in pixels, use 100% instead. By fading images into blocks of colour in the website graphics, you can create a stretchable element that will scale to fit all window sizes. Use little boxes to put stuff in, these can then flow around the screen as required without having to be in any particular place, they also help to draw the eye to special offers, discounts, newsletter sign ups etc, and can of course be styled by your graphic designer with curves and shading and gradients to look great.
Conclusion
The finest Loughborough web design companies provide web designs that work on all screen resolutions because they are fluid and scalable in design, from the smallest mobile phone browser right up to the huge 27 inch flat screen displays running massive screen resolutions. This technology is available now, if you select the right agency to do it for you, so why exclude potential customers from viewing your website properly just because they are not using a standard setup. In the current economic climate do you really want to be excluding any potential customers?
Costa Blanca Property Auctions
by editor on May.30, 2009, under News
A property auction is an event where an auctioneer assembles people who are looking to buy property, or offer it for sale. Usually, these properties are listed in a catalogue. A property auction is an excellent route to buying your first home. Auctions are often the fastest and most efficient means of buying properties on the cheap.
Costa Blanca Property Auctions offers a quick sale on a specific date and the purchaser, or the vendor for that matter, cannot change their mind once the hammer has fallen, as this is contractually binding. A wider variety of commercial and residential properties are offered at auction. Property auctions might sound like the perfect place to purchase your dream home cheaply. The problem is that you need a strategy to become the winning bidder.
If you have a property for sale andalucia then u can maximise the price as competition mounts between bidders, and the buyer can be confident that the deal is done when the hammer falls.
At property auctions costa del sol bidders must declare whether they are acting on behalf of the vendor, the vendor’s agent or the auctioneer. The bidders are able to check the list of all registered bidders to satisfy themselves that the list at least appears to be bona fide. Bidding starts at the amount of taxes due at the date of the sale. Bidding does not start at zero.
Price sensibly, but don’t get into a price war. Prices show the minimally accepted bid plus a small fee for our services we submit the bid on your behalf and also the required down payment, which must be submitted by cashiers check at the auction on Wednesday . We will be at the auction and will have to spend Tuesday in the bank getting the cashiers checks. Prices are usually very competitive and often cheaper than on the high street.
Investing in real estate could lead you to true wealth and financial independence. This business is the only key to the lock named insecurity. But please remember that investment properties, and those sold at property auctions are often in need of modernisation, including central heating, windows, fixtures and fittings.
Selling your house at auction is an increasingly popular way of selling your house. Last year alone, more than 30,000 properties - 8% of all the properties sold in the UK - were sold at auction.
5 Ways to Exercise Without Effort
by editor on May.30, 2009, under News
We would all enjoy having a better physique however very few of us have the time and energy that it would take to put in all of the exercise necessary to do so. Fortunately, there are a lot of different ways that you can get some effortless exercise that will help you to be able to get fit and lose some weight in the process. Here are five different ways that you can do so, most of which can be added into your life without you ever realizing it.
Parking Your Car - Instead of parking your car as close as possible to work or to the store, try parking in a little bit further away and walking there instead. The few minutes that you will spend walking into the store and out again are going to add up to a lot of exercise over time.
Clean Your House - Housecleaning is one of the greatest exercises that we can do for a number of different reasons. First of all, it is physical activity that we need to do and can not be put off for too long. Secondly, living in a clean house is going to make us comfortable and less stressed. This will go a long way in helping us with any fitness goals we are trying to achieve.
Enjoy Your Children - Your children are a powerhouse of energy and can be a great source of exercise for you. Take them to the park on a regular basis and be active with them. Not only will you enjoy some exercise but your family bond will grow as a result of the increased togetherness.
Take Dancing Lessons - Dancing is a fantastic form of exercise and is a lot of fun at the same time. Usually, there are dance lessons that are available in almost every town so check your local listings and see if you can get in on the fun. This is going to be strenuous activity but you will not recognize it as being exercise. It is also a great way for you to spend some family time and almost everybody will enjoy doing it.
Don’t Use the Phone - Instead of picking up the phone and calling somebody that is on the other side of the office, get up out of your cubicle and walk over there to talk to them. It may seem small but this little bit of activity will add up over the course of time.

Defining Efficient Basement Waterproofing Systems
by editor on May.29, 2009, under News
What are basement waterproofing systems and how do they work? Let’s take a look at the time and tested waterproofing of basement and how it works.
If you imagine how a basement is first built, when the house it is sited in was first conceived, then basically the following happens:
A big hole in the ground is dug, the footer or foundations are laid, the walls of the basement are built and then the rest of the house follows. From this list the most vital point is the top one - the vast crater dug in the earth. The construction of basement walls invariably leaves a void on the exterior which requires backfilling. Loose backfill is used to fill in the gap. The problem here is that water looks for the path of least resistance, and you’ve just given it just that with a huge pile of loose backfill, no matter how well it’s been compacted.
Water will continuously seep into this area. The conventional basement waterproofing provides some form of drainage pipe for this water to drain away, but the problem with this is that often these pipes get silted up. As the water comes it brings all sorts of suspension with it and that is to be expected as it is natural. The system can overload if the pipes get over-filled and then the pressure of the built up water would be concentrated on the outer basement walls. If there are crevices in the walls, water will push through even if the basement walls are waterproofed.
This type of problem doesn’t usually go away because the pipes that are supposed to take away the excess water gradually worsen over time. Many times there is simply no access to these pipes which is a huge oversight. Basement waterproofing is also applied to the external walls of the basement to try and keep the water out. Usually this is called a tanked system.
If you want to find out if you have water inside the concrete block of your walls simply tap a hole into the concrete block, near the floor, and see if you have water coming out of this block then you may want to consider a drained cavity waterproofing system this system drains the water from your walls, much the same way you just did, by adding drain holes in the bottom blocks that allows those areas to drain into a type of interior french drain system. Water is controlled, collected and allowed to flow through hidden drainage channels either to natural drainage or to a sump pump where the water is removed away from the property.
Basement waterproofing systems are superior because they are installed internaly, have easy access ports for removing silt, and can be installed in basements where other methods have failed.
You want to be sure to choose a reliable waterproofer for your home, keep in mind that it will greatly increase the value by far more than what you initally paid. You should look at waterproofing not as an expense but as an investment in the value of your home.
So there you have it, making it easier to start using basement waterproofing systems, quickly & easily for the basics and to ensure that you have a hassle free and cheap experience.

Telstra E&G Makes Big Push into Telepresence
by editor on May.28, 2009, under News
The host of the meeting, Telstra’s executive director for convergent sales, Paul Geason, told the gathering that Telstra E&G would be making a big push into high definition videoconferencing, generally known as telepresence, in response to market demand “video, video, video is what we are hearing,” he said.
For the event Telstra set up a three way telepresence conference using technology from strategic partner Cisco, in what for many of those attending may well have been their first encounter with the technology. The conference linked a Cisco executive in San Jose and one from Telstra’s other strategic partner, Microsoft, in North Sydney.
Geason told iTWire that Telstra E&G how had about 20 customers in various stages of installing their own telepresence facilities and that, in July Telstra would launch a ‘business-to-business-exchange that would enable different customers to set up telepresence conferences between their respective facilities.
He told the audience “in Telstra we have deployed a significant amount of high definition telepresence and it is becoming fundamental to the way we work.” He added that his travel budget had been cut by 50 percent, “I’m lucky to be here today.” (Luckier certainly than another Telstra executive at the meeting who complained to iTWire that his travel budget had been cut to zero!)
While the travel cost savings and ‘green’ benefits of videoconferencing are well known, Geason claimed that the technology actually improved meetings. “What is most exciting about this is that the quality of the interaction is enhanced. There is nowhere to hide in an immersive high definition telepresence experience.”
Other, global, carriers such as Tata Communications have recently launched videoconferencing services based around Cisco TelePresence technology and have gone further in setting up a global network of public telepresence meeting rooms which can be hooked into meeting rooms in customer premises.
Geason said that Telstra E&G had telepresence rooms in Sydney and Melbourne which customers could hire by the hour but that this was more a courtesy service and sales tool than a full commercial offering, and that Telstra had no plans to launch a full commercial telepresence service. “Providing that first experience to potential customers is very important, but our focus at the moment is on customers deploying themselves,” he said.
He also played down the possibility of Telstra interconnecting telepresence facilities with those operated by overseas carriers in order to facilitate a global teleconference. “That is technically possible the question is whether it is strategically or commercial sensible is another matter.”
However he said Telstra did face the challenge of providing and supporting telepresence facilities overseas for its multinational customers. “We are thinking now about how we support our customers in Asia and the US and in Europe in terms of the deployment and management of [telepresence]. That will be our first investment. How that plays out in terms of bilateral arrangements with other carriers is not something we are focussed on at the moment.”
Electromyography In Italy is called Elettromiografia
by editor on May.28, 2009, under News
The electromyography (Elettromiografia) is a diagnostic method that allows to study the peripheral nervous system (PNS) from the functional point of view, and is supportive diagnostic and treatment of many neurological diseases.
Electromyography (EMG) is a technique for evaluating and recording the activation signal of muscles. EMG is performed using an instrument called electromyograph , to produce a record called an electromyogram. An electromyograph detects the electrical potential generated by muscle cells when these cells are mechanically active, and also when the cells are at rest.
The sequence of the various measurements is not fixed for each disease presented, but may vary based on the results obtained gradually.
The electromyographic study makes use of two stages: the Elettroneurografia (ENG) and the electromyography (EMG)
The ENG (Elettroneurografia) is the study of the neurophysiological parameters of nerve conduction . The conduct can be examined from a sensory or motor. In the first case (sensitive) measures the ability to provide information to higher centers collected from peripheral endings. In the second case (motor) measures the ability to send commands to the various muscles engines.
The EMG (electromyography) is the recording of electrical muscle.
Both methods allow you to:
• locate noise ratio .
• identify the underlying pathological process is .
• characterize the deficit (which type is this?)
• assess the seriousness of the deficit .
• monitor the course of the disease
• To provide a prognosis
• assess the effectiveness of therapies taken
