A Wild Ride: Rapidly Acquiring A Classic Mustang

I really haven’t had time to speak on this blog quite as much as I’d planned, because of all the time I’ve been roped into helping my old man manage his super nutball midlife crisis. Okay, you might think it’s not as far out as it could possibly be. Basically the way he played it out was to go and dress himself up like the Fonz or something, and drop by to my crib and proclaim to me, in his “coolest” dialect: “Put some shades on, boy, we’re going to be shopping for some classic Mustangs for sale. You better believe it, buddy, I’m all set to buy one.”
Before I knew what was happening the two of us were off to some of those wild vintage car places that everybody is just about certain are part of some organized crime ring, and I watch my dad cut a check within just a few minutes, for an alarmingly sparkly classic car. I mean, it really is an intense piece of machinery. It sounded amazing as well.
I want to point out that I said that in the past tense. It sounded perfect right until it became silent. Dad informs me that it’s a pretty simple thing to fix and he just needs the right part. Only thing is, it can’t possibly be as painless to pick up 1965 Mustang parts as it was some three decades years ago, but Dad tells me there is a pretty big aftermarket for them to this day. the best place to find parts for classic Ford Mustangs is via internet auctions, since you can get them refurbished and occasionally as good as new. They’re only sometimes super-cheap, however… Think about it, these are half-century old Ford Mustang parts.
I suppose it could’ve been worse. It would’ve been worse if he’d decided to buy a volkswagen bus.
