It is built with the capability to sense movement via its infrared sensors and can detect movement at a 105 degree angle from it. If ever an animal goes near its confines, it will immediately spray water to scare off the animal.
The tool itself can function at anytime of the day from morning till night fall. And since typically most pests get frightened easily with a single spraying of water, the majority of them will not return for another shower.
