Smarten up your restaurant with a real wood floor

If you want to increase the number of customers that come to your restaurant in these difficult days, you need to keep up to date. One way of doing this is to change the interior design. The trend these days is toward simplicity, reflecting the fact that people don’t want to be seen as being extravagant.
One solution is to redesign from the floor up and throw out those carpets, which probably look a bit shabby in the hard light of day. This is important because nowadays people want more light when they eat. You could use a classic type of flooring like oak parquet. There are many advantages to wood flooring in a restaurant. First, it looks clean and homely; secondly, it is very durable, and can withstand the hard usage you get in a restaurant; thirdly, it is easily renovated when it gets shabby; and it is easily cleaned.
On the other hand there is one disadvantage, which is important in a cosy restaurant where people go for quiet tete-a-tetes. And that is that wood reflects the noise much more than carpet. This is not such a problem in a busy bar, but can be in a more up-market restaurant. One solution is to use full length curtains and carpet wall coverings for part of the wall. Another solution is to divide the restaurant up into different areas with booths for groups of four. This also helps absorb noise.
The next question is what sort of wood to use. There are plenty to choose from, like handscraped hardwood flooring which is very popular, as is walnut. Needless to say you need to choose a hard-wearing wood.
Whatever hardwood flooring you choose you can be sure it will improve your restaurant, and may bring in more customers.
